CONTACT LENS EXAMS

WHAT IS A CONTACT LENS FITTING?

Contact lens prescriptions are not included in a comprehensive eye exam because not everyone wears contacts. More often than not, your glasses and contact lens prescriptions will be different for a few reasons. One is that the distance from your cornea to the lens varies in glasses and contacts due to vertex distance.

For new and established patients that would like to wear contact lenses, a contact lens examination, also known as a fitting, is required.

People come in all shapes and sizes and so do their eyes! A lens that works for you may not work for someone else. In addition, the tear film varies from one person to another and a healthy corneal surface is needed to sustain comfort in your lenses.

Dr. Nguyen is trained to prescribe the best contact lenses for your eyes based on your desired usage, ocular health, and curvature of your cornea.

DAILY DISPOSABLE LENSES

Daily disposable soft contact lenses make wearing contacts especially easy — wear them once and throw them away. Daily contact lenses are easily the most convenient, healthiest, and comfortable option available.

COLORED OR COSMETIC

Colored contact lenses allow you to enhance or change your eye color and create a look that's subtle, bold or anywhere in between. Color contacts are available with or without lens power to correct vision.

ASTIGMATISM

Astigmatism is a type of refractive error caused by the irregularities in the shape of a person’s cornea. In this condition, the eye fails to focus the light equally on the retina leading to blurred or distorted vision. It can be present at the time of birth, or can develop gradually in life. Fortunately, this is a common condition and in most cases can be corrected with contact lenses.

MULTIFOCAL OR MONOVISION CORRECTION

Presbyopia is the normal loss of near focusing ability that occurs with age. Multifocal contact lenses or monovision correction can reduce your dependence on reading glasses. We offer both options and the doctor will determine if you are a good candidate.

SPECIALTY

For patients with keratoconus, severe dry eye, high or irregular astigmatism, or other corneal disorders that soft contact lenses cannot correct, we offer specialty contacts as an option.
